OFFICE-BASED ENDOSCOPY

One Patient. One Doctor. One Bill.

At Meeker Surgery & Endoscopy Health Center, we believe medical procedures should be personal, transparent, and physician-led. Our office-based endoscopy program allows patients to receive high-quality colonoscopy and upper endoscopy care outside of a hospital or surgery center, offering a simpler experience with coordinated care under one physician-led practice.

Why Office-Based Endoscopy?

Traditionally, endoscopy procedures are divided among multiple systems:

  • A physician performs the procedure
  • A facility charges a separate fee
  • An anesthesia group bills independently
  • Multiple statements arrive weeks later

We designed a different model.

  • Sedation coordination

The Office-Based Advantage

Physician
Led Care

Your procedure takes place in a physician-owned medical practice — not a large institutional system. You know your doctor, and your doctor knows you.

Simplified
Billing

Our integrated model coordinates procedural and anesthesia services through a single physician-led practice whenever possible. Unlike hospital or surgery center procedures, there is no separate facility charge.  An estimate for the total amount charged for the procedure and the patient responsibility portion will be given to patients prior to the procedure being performed.

Lower Site of
Service Costs

The same procedure can be performed in multiple locations. Office-based endoscopy avoids many hospital and ambulatory surgery center facility fees, which reduces total healthcare spending for patients and insurers.

Convenient &
Efficient

Enjoy hassle-free healthcare with easy parking, streamlined scheduling, and minimal wait times in a comfortable outpatient setting. Focus on your health in a convenient, welcoming environment.

Safety & Quality

Our office-based endoscopy program follows established medical standards including:

  • Advanced physiologic monitoring
  • Dedicated procedural staff
  • Sedation administered under physician supervision
  • Emergency preparedness protocols
  • Evidence-based infection prevention practices

Office-based endoscopy is widely recognized as a safe and efficient setting for appropriately selected patients. Patients requiring hospital-level care are directed to the appropriate setting.

Common Endoscopy Settings

Healthcare billing traditionally separates physicians, facilities, anesthesia providers, and pathology laboratories — which is why patients often receive multiple bills after a single procedure. Our model was created to simplify that experience for patients and lower overall healthcare costs.

A hospital outpatient department typically has higher institutional overhead and involves separate billing for the facility, physician, and anesthesia services.

An ambulatory surgery center provides an efficient outpatient environment and usually results in multiple independent bills for services rendered.

Office-based endoscopy takes place in a physician-owned setting that allows for streamlined coordination of care, reduced facility overhead, and a simplified, more consolidated billing experience.

Yes. Properly selected patients undergoing procedures in appropriately equipped offices experience excellent safety outcomes.

No. For appropriate patients, office-based endoscopy maintains high standards of care while offering a more cost-efficient setting. It uses modern endoscopic technology, meets established safety standards, maintains direct physician oversight, and provides individualized attention in a smaller clinical environment.

Office-based endoscopy may be appropriate for patients undergoing screening colonoscopy, colon cancer prevention, surveillance colonoscopy, evaluation of reflux or swallowing difficulty, and assessment of abdominal pain or anemia.

Patients with complex medical conditions may be better served in a hospital setting, and we help guide that decision to ensure the safest and most appropriate care environment.

Healthcare systems increasingly recognize that the site of service plays a significant role in both cost and efficiency of care. Choosing the appropriate setting can help balance quality, accessibility, and value.

Our practice provides direct physician-to-physician communication, prompt scheduling availability, efficient reporting and follow-up, and high-value procedural care in a community-based setting. We welcome collaboration with referring physicians, insurers, and employer health plans seeking accessible, physician-led endoscopy services.
